Mersina’s journey into Ayurveda and Abhyanga massage began in 2007 not long after she graduated from Kinesiology and whilst working at the Kalari Healing Centre in Melbourne.
It was around this time that Mersina visited Kalariyil Dharmikam Ashram in Kerala, India, where she completed further studies in body work and Ayurvedic traditions, under the guidance of Guru Balachandran Nair. It was here that Mersina established a deep connection and resonance with the philosophy of Ayurveda.
Abhyanga massage is a therapeutic full body massage which uses long rhythmic strokes , ayurvedic oils and herbal poultices, which improve circulation and reduce nervous and muscular tension. The specific style of Abhyanga Massage that Mersina practises is known as Kalari Chikitsa – an ancient South Indian healing system that embodies Ayurveda, Sidhaveda and Marma Shastra.
Mersina is currently in her final semester of completing her Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) and also her post-graduate in Ayurveda with Dr Amruta Athale.
Mersina is passionate about bridging the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with evidence based science (Naturopathy) to assist you to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
